Boris Bastidas is a sophomore at Florida Atlantic University majoring in political science.  He hopes to someday get a career in public service as a candidate for office or as a campaign manager/political aide.   In addition to his academic goals, Boris is President of the FAU College Democrats and helped run the Obama campaign operation at FAU in the fall of 2008.

A lifetime resident of Broward County, Boris has been into politics since the age of 15 and has volunteered on the campaigns for congressional and gubernatorial candidates.   He helped start and was President of the Debate Team at South Plantation High School and was Editor in Chief of the school’s Newspaper “The Sword and Shield.”   He was a proud member and graduate of the Youth Leadership Broward program.

At FAU, Boris is a member of the Student Government Boca Raton House of Representatives, and has written resolutions on the need for equal treatment for all students on campus and on making textbooks more affordable.

Boris is a registered Democrat since 2007 and is a self proclaimed progressive.   Boris believes that government should not attempt to control or prevent what’s good in America, but instead that government can play a role preventing what’s bad and promoting what works.
